چکیده
In this work, an evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithm (EMO) based on the dynamics of predator-prey interactions existing in nature is presented. This algorithm contains “prey”, which represent members of the population/sample space and are randomly placed on a two dimensional lattice with connected ends. “Predators” are comparatively fewer in number than “prey” and are placed in the cell centers of the same 2D lattice. The predators are partially or completely biased towards one or more objectives. Based on this quantitative nature, each predator kills the weakest prey in its locality and replaces it with better prey. The prey remains stationary, while the predators move around in the lattice during the course of generations improving the quality of the prey relating to the objectives (objective functions to be maximized or minimized) of the problem. The basic concept of the predator-prey algorithm was suggested by Dr. Hans Paul Schwefel and reported by Laumann et al. in 1998. In the present paper, significant modifications of the basic algorithm regarding the selection procedure, apparent movement of the predators, and the general dynamics of the Pareto convergence have been proposed. The final modified form has been applied to standard two-objective optimization problems.

Patient Mobility in the Global Marketplace: A Multidisciplinary Perspective
There is a growing global market in healthcare and patients. And while there is a small body of evidence emerging around this phenomenon commonly known as medical tourism there remain significant unanswered policy and research questions which need to be addressed. We outline some of the key issues set against the six key disciplinary preoccupations of the journal: epidemiology, health economics...
متن کاملApplying change management models to the revalidation of an undergraduate Accounting & Finance programme – a study in the UK higher education
Obtaining exemptions from professional bodies’ examinations has become important for institutions in the higher education sector and there is a growing attention to provide such exemptions to graduating students. However, incorporating necessary changes to the teaching syllabus and meeting the required changes in assessments and other areas of teaching and the related syllabus, can be difficult...
متن کاملPediatric Traumatic Limb Amputation: The Principles of Management and Optimal Residual Limb Lengths
Pediatric traumatic limb amputations are rare and their acute and long term management can be challenging in this subgroup of patients. The lengthy and costly hospital stays, and resulting physical and psychological implications leads to significant morbidity. We present a summary of treatment principles and the evidence base supporting the management options for this entity. The initial manage...

Background: Human T cell lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I)-associated myelopa-thy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP) is an inflammatory disease which occurs in less than 2% of HTLV-I -infected individuals. High proviral load, high HTLV-I-specific CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocyte frequency (CTL) and host genetic factors such as HLA all appear to be associated with HTLV-I infection. Previous stud...

This paper offers a short commentary on the editorial by Mannion and Exworthy. The paper highlights the positive insights offered by their analysis into the tensions between the competing institutional logics of standardization and customization in healthcare, in part manifested in the conflict between managers and professionals, and endorses the plea of the authors for further research in this...
